The iCup Drug Test 6 panel with a built-In Adulterant Check is the simplest, self-contained one-step drug test with adulteration. It offers a completely closed system for total urine specimen integrity and easy collection and the clear construction gives optimum observation of urine specimens. As a single unit with no dipping or pouring, the results develop quickly within the sealed unit. You may also photocopy the results allowing you to maintain a visual record of the test.

While it is the most common method, urine test kits are not fool proof.
A major challenge of urine drug testing is adulteration of the urine specimen. It is an attempt to manipulate the urine specimen with chemical adulterants to produce a false negative or invalid test result. Adulterants can either be purchased on a website as products that are professionally made to take down a drug test. Household chemicals such as bleach or laundry detergent, table salt can also be used.
The Oxidant Strip – checks for the presence of oxidizing agents such as bleach and peroxide added to the specimen to cause and invalid or false negative test result.
The SG Strips – checks for dilution of the urine specimen itself. Specific Gravity is a measure of the density of a substance compared to the density of water. For urine, the specific gravity is a measure of the concentration of dissolved particles in the urine.
The pH Strip – Checks to determine if pH is within the normal human range. When pH is outside the normal human range it will serve to mask the presence of illicit drugs within the urine specimen. High pH levels can even destroy the metabolites of drugs present within the urine making it impossible to detect them.

With the iCup 6 panel drug test screening results are visible within minutes the indication of one line (positive), two lines (negative), and no line(s) in the control is an invalid result. Since this device is a zero exposure, leak-proof, and tamper-proof system, it remains closed until it is properly disposed of.
To ensure specimen integrity, a temperature strip is located on the back of the testing cup. A quality control device is also built into the test itself and will display a red line in the control region (C) to be considered an internal procedural control. It confirms sufficient specimen volume, adequate membrane wicking, and the correct procedural technique has been done.

Does a faint line indicate a negative result?
Yes, faint lines DO indicate negative results. The shade of color in the test region (Drug/T) will vary, but it should be considered a negative result whenever there is even a faint colored line. Any indication of a line (even faint) is a negative result.
Is there specific training required to administer these drug tests?
Although there is no official training required to administer the tests, procedure cards are provided as well as, instructional videos, and drug test interpretation quizzes free of charge.
Are any of your drug tests FDA Cleared?
All of our urine tests have an FDA 510k clearance except for the new K2 Test Kit, which is waiting for FDA 510 (k) clearance.
Are there products that can be used in the tests to give a false negative? What can be done to avoid this?
Although there are only a small handful of products that can be used to change the result of an impending test, there are validity screens available which can detect these adulterants. Some are integrated into the tests, such as the iCup, which has built-in adulteration available, and we also have individual adulteration strips.
Does the product need to be disposed of in any special way, such as a bio hazard bag?
Urine and oral drug screens do not pose a bio hazard risk and can be disposed of in regular waste receptacles.
What is the minimum amount of specimen needed for a conclusive test result?
It is always important to collect a sufficient amount of specimen in case of a non-negative result. The confirmation laboratory requires a minimum of 15mL of the specimen but prefers 30mL for urine testing.
Is there any specific way these products need to be stored? Do they have to be refrigerated?
All drug test devices can be stored at room temperature up to the date of expiration printed on the individual foil pouch. They cannot be stored in extreme heat or cold and must remain sealed in the foil pouch until use.
Is it possible to cheat the iCup drug screen by substituting or adulterating the specimen?
No. The iCup A.D. contains a specimen validity test or SVT strip that verifies the validity of a specimen. The SVT strip checks for oxidants, specific gravity, and pH in the specimen. For example, if someone tries to substitute water for urine, the specific gravity indicator will show an abnormal reading.
How accurate are the test results?
Laboratory test results for drugs of abuse have indicated a greater than 97% accuracy when used according to the step-by-step instructions that are provided with the test.
Are there any legal medications that can trigger positive results?
Yes. The most common problem is the pseudoephedrine in many over-the-counter sinus and cold medications, which can cause a positive result for methamphetamine. A GC/MS confirmation, as well as an MRO review, is necessary to determine the source of the positive result. Some forms of the drugs we test for may be available legally under prescription as well.
