Available in singles or up to 10 drugs on one device for simultaneous detection. The drug cut-off levels are set with SAMHSA guidelines unless they are otherwise noted. The Alere iCassette urine drug test kit is easy to use rapid drug test that is a visually read binding immunoassay. If you need a CLIA Waived test, options are available to choose from, which have CLIA Waived status. The drug testing device is very low maintenance, and very effective as a preliminary detection system revealing the presence of drugs within the provided specimen. It offers dependable results and is easy to administer. A built-in control displays a line to inform you that the device is properly working, with the absence of a line in the control region the test should be considered invalid at that point you will need to re-run the test with another device.
How the test works:
To initiate the test, a pipette (otherwise called a urine dropper) is used by transferring 3 mL of the specimen from the collection container to the devices sample wells by the use of a liquid transfer. Once the drops of the specimen are added, noticeable changes will occur due to a chemical reaction resulting from the insertion of the specimen. Lines should begin forming in the test region within seconds. Wait 5 minutes to interpret, and then record the outcome of the test. Be sure to make a copy of the results to place with your drug test report form. Click on the Test Instructions Tab to view the Procedure Card. Please make sure to refer to the product insert for complete instructions, limitations, and warnings.
How to administer the test?
- Bring the pouch to room temperature before opening it. Remove the test device from the sealed pouch. Use the test device as soon as possible.
- Place the test device on a clean and level surface. Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 3 full drops of urine (approx.100 ul total volume) to the sample well (S) of the test device. Start the timer. Avoid trapping air bubbles in the sample well (S). See the illustration below.
- Wait for the colored lines(s) to appear. The results should be read at 5 minutes or up to 4 hours after test initiation.
How do I interpret the results of a urine drug test kit?
POSITIVE A colored line appears in the control region (C). NO line appears in the test region next to the name of a specific drug tested. The positive result means that the drug concentration in the urine sample is greater than the designated cut-off for a specific drug.
NEGATIVE: A colored line appears in the control region and a colored line appears in the test region. Up to four colored lines may appear in each result window. One line will be in the control region (C). Up to three lines will be next to the drug names in the test region. This negative result means that the drug concentration in the urine sample is below the designated cut-off for a specific drug. Again, please make sure to refer to the product insert for complete instructions.
Should I worry if a test line is fainter than the other lines showing on the test kit?
No. A fainter test line has absolutely nothing to do with how the results are determined. The shade of color in the test region will vary, but it should be considered a negative result whenever there is even a faint colored line. Any indication of a line (even faint) is a negative result.
