Description of Use
This is a great product for employers who want to test their employees for the purposes of DOT compliance, reasonable suspicion testing or for the purposes of enforcing a zero-tolerance workplace policy. Whatever the reason may be, it is a proven fact that alcohol accounts for two-thirds of all substance abuse complaints. There is a growing concern by public safety officials, corporate officers, and small business managers about the problems caused by alcohol abuse in the workplace as well as in public places when the substance abuser is in control of a vehicle or heavy equipment.
As a result, demands for more effective detection of alcohol impairment in individuals engaged in work or driving have expanded across many industries. Backed by the millions of tests sold worldwide, you can count on these saliva test strips as a trusted, reliable partner in your alcohol testing efforts.
Using Alcohol Test Strips
The Alco-screen 02 is a highly sensitive method to detect the presence of alcohol in saliva. Should a quantitative determination of BAC be required; a positive result must be verified using an acceptable quantitative alcohol procedure. However, quantitative follow-up testing should be performed by a qualified professional.
The alcohol test strips may also be used to non-quantitatively detect the presence of alcohol in many other fluids, such as soft drinks, blood serum, etc.
Results
The test is very sensitive to the presence of alcohol. The result display will produce a light green-gray color change if the presence of alcohol is detected at 0.02% or greater BAC. If the green color is lighter than the 0.02% color block, then it should be interpreted as being positive to the presence of alcohol but less than 0.02%. A result showing no color change (remains white or cream-colored) should be interpreted as a negative result, as in no alcohol present in the sample.
